Patricia Adams
Inspired by the natural beauty of the Kansas landscape, Patricia uses color, mark, shapes and shadows to paint the landscape around her. Light and time create an important source of energy for her work and become a challenge in her creative process.
She paints in oil on natural birch panel. Her materials are durable and travel well when she paints en plein air. She feels her process is most successful when she starts her landscapes on location as representations in the traditional manner. She then develops them further by simplifying and abstracting elements. With composition, color and detail she paints perspective into every piece, exaggerating horizons as a way to emphasis the massive sky, terrain and beauty of the plains landscape.
